New Security Feature: EV SSL Certificates Protect You Against Phishing
22/06/2009
ING DIRECT have recently installed the latest encryption certificates on our website to help you ensure you are accessing the legitimate ING DIRECT website. If you are using a recent web browser (such as Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 3, Safari 3.2, Opera 9.5 or Google Chrome), you should notice that your address bar turns green when you login to ING DIRECT online banking. In addition, you’ll see ING DIRECT’s legal business name “ING Bank (Australia) Limited”. You can also click part of the address bar to see more information about the website owner.
Known technically as “extended validation (EV) SSL certificates”, these digital encryption certificates require confirmation of the legal identity and physical presence of the website owner. This makes it more difficult for a fraudster to make a copy of our website.
It is a simple but effective way in which ING DIRECT protects your money and information.
